To the best of my (limited) knowledge, nothing much has changed in the world of managing a cash drawer in a very long time.

Articles promising passive income and making money online are bound to get more attention. I’m writing this to help save those behind a cash register some time to read more of those once they are done.

The Four Basic Problems

  1. How much money is there right now?
  2. How much business did we do?
  3. How much am I taking (to the bank) and leaving (for tomorrow’s change)?
  4. Is anything missing?

This Isn’t That Hard, Right?

Not everybody is essential/works retail. Those that do might bounce around several essential places with mixed results. If you were ever trained properly to do this, it might make no difference as you move from joint to joint and learn how they like it done. Alternatively, maybe you learned it once by repetition, and find you now need to train a new hire and would like a better understanding.
